Niagara Real Estate News and Market Watch, June 2026
Here's what's actually happening across Lincoln, Beamsville, Vineland, Jordan, Smithville, and Grimsby this month, the development news, the events, and the numbers that affect your buying or selling decision right now.
New developments worth knowing about. Beamsville's Hampton by Hilton hotel, a project from local investor Aftab Qaisar, broke ground in 2025 and is still targeting an opening around August 2026. In Grimsby, the Downtown Reimagined infrastructure project began its first construction phase on June 22, 2026, with Phase 1 focused on underground watermain and sewer work along Elm, Mountain/Christie, Main Street, and Rossmore, backed by a $9.1 million budget that includes a $1.9 million provincial grant. Grimsby is also adding density downtown, with DeSantis Homes building the 87-unit Century Condos, a geothermal-heated building, and partnering with Valery Group on Auburn, the town's first purpose-built rental building at 130 units near the hospital. Anatolia Business Park, a 35-acre industrial park off the QEW, is moving ahead with up to 642,500 square feet across three buildings, with delivery phased through 2026 and into 2027 depending on the building. In Smithville, West Lincoln secured just under $4 million in provincial funding for watermain and sanitary sewer upgrades to support new housing, with construction running through about June 2026.
Upcoming events. The Niagara Grape & Wine Festival runs June 26 to 28 and again July 3 to 5. The i4C International Cool Climate Chardonnay Celebration runs July 16 to 19 across Niagara wine country, including tastings at White Oaks Resort and Peller Estates. Vineland Station's Outdoor Market Series with Indigenous artisans continues through the summer.
The Numbers
The Bank of Canada held its policy rate at 2.25% on June 10, 2026, the fifth consecutive hold, with the next announcement scheduled for July 15, 2026. Nationally, CREA reported home sales up 5.5% month over month in May, with the national average price reaching $702,079, the first time it has topped $700,000 in 23 months. Locally, the Niagara Association of REALTORS® reported 559 home sales in April 2026, up 0.9% from a year earlier, with 5.6 months of inventory, above the long-run average for this time of year, which points to a more balanced market for buyers.
